Swinging

The one in the middle's best friend will be overseas for her long-planned birthday party, so she asked if we could have a pre-birthday film night for her school friends. It all went off without a hitch (except a minor popcorn incident).

Two of the girls stayed for a sleepover, and the next morning, hung around in the hammock and on the trampoline. It's definitely starting to be hammock weather.

Fresh

Spring rolls

We went on a Vietnamese food tour of Cabramatta. Our tour guide didn't have anything to share that we didn't already know (she took us to mostly Chinese shops, and I have my own live-in Chinese food expert), but the lunch was gorgeous.

Mini lava lamp

USB lava lamp

It runs off my laptop's power. I don't know how I lived without one.

Sprinkles!

Beads

We have a big jar of these from Ikea. These last couple of weeks, the boys have been making some really cool stuff with them. I can see the eldest is going to have to set up at Etsy store some time soon...

Sleepy Happy People

Tired people

We finally got to the Cockatoo Island portion of the Sydney Biennale today. I love the island's derelict industrial spaces anyway, but it was particularly exciting to see some thoughtful installations in buildings and rooms that have been unused for decades or more.

I was using my little half-frame film camera today, so all I have to show you is this camera phone shot from the train home (for now).

Camping is now available on the island - we've booked for a night under canvas there soon.

Fishies

Paddys Market

After visiting the design markets at the Powerhouse Museum, we headed for yum cha. We had a table of fifteen, which made for a delightfully chaotic meal. There was much Cantonese banter with the waitstaff. The one in the middle tried chicken's feet for the first time (just the ankle - next time she might even have a nibble on the digits).

On the way back to the car, we wandered through Paddy's Markets, where we spotted these goldfish. I can only imagine what market delights are in store when we head to Honk Kong in October.

Chook

Beaked

It was Wing's birthday today (Happy Birthday, sweetheart), so we went to his favourite local restaurant for dinner.

We all wore blue party hats (though, obviously, not always in the accepted fashion), though Wing's was glittery and decorated with tinsel, as befits a birthday boy.
